Satellite phone rentals are best utilized in underdeveloped areas. They do not work well in large cities or inside many buildings. If you're doing scientific field work, for example, a satellite phone would work well for you. They also work well for those on cruise ships or safaris.
Satellite phones work best in large outdoor areas with plenty of open sky. As long as nothing blocks the antenna from the satellite signal, your phone will work just fine.
